LOGOS: Optimizing Capital Budgeting

A budget optimization software for Nuclear Power Plants, using knapsack algorithms to maximize profit and reliability while minimizing costs.
Technology No. CW-20-12
LOGOS is a software package for optimizing capital budgeting. It uses discrete optimization models to select the best combination of items, considering their cost, reward, and constraints. The models are based on knapsack optimization algorithms and can be either deterministic or stochastic. LOGOS can be used for maintenance optimization and optimal component replacement scheduling in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs). It helps reduce Operation and Maintenance (O&M) costs while maintaining reliability and availability of plant Structures, Systems, and Components (SSCs). LOGOS integrates economic and reliability risk in a single analysis framework and provides the optimal set of projects that maximize profit and satisfy requirements. The input data can be deterministic or stochastic, and the software allows custom design of workflows using RAVEN. The methods developed in LOGOS optimize plant resources and minimize operating costs.
